Matilda Bedford
| Malshanger
|
My name is Matilda and I live with my mum, dad and older brother who is 16. I have a dog who is called Pippa. I can’t wait to go to Uganda and see how it compares to my village of Malshanger, near Oakley. I want to go to Uganda to see what life is like out there, you see so much stuff about poverty on the television and in the newspaper, but I want to really understand the way they live. I think that if you are lucky enough to have the opportunity to see what is actually happening then you should go for it! I would like to make friends and meet all the friendly people as well. They seem really cool and it’s nice how you get your own buddy!
Kate Beer
Whitchurch
Hi, my name is Kate and I live in Whitchurch with my Dad, Mum and my sister Nicola. I am currently in Year 10 at Testbourne. I am so happy to be going to Uganda as it is a once in a lifetime experience that I have wanted to do for a long time. I can’t wait to experience their culture, meet the people out there and taste their food! I have heard so much from all the people that have been there already and I cannot wait to see it for myself in October. I lead a privileged life where I have money to spend and a comfortable home to go back to. I know that the children out in Mityana don’t have this and I would like to see life from their point of view.
Codi Briley
Andover
Hi, my name is Codi. I live with my mum, dad and sister in Andover. My sister is very supportive and willing to help. I am going to Uganda this year and I am really excited and willing to do anything for this trip. I am already doing a sponsored event. I am really excited about going on this trip because it is going to be something to work towards and help humans who are less wealthy than us. I hope to learn a lot about Ugandans and myself during this trip.
Katrina Caswell
Oakley
Hi, my name is Katrina and I live in Oakley with my mum, dad and older sister. I am 15 years old and currently in year 10 at Testbourne School. I cannot wait to go Uganda and see for myself what their schools and home life is really like. As my sister was part of the Uganda Team 2007, I have had more of an insight into what I can expect than others. In August last year I visited Morocco with my family and saw some poverty. I was rather shocked by what I saw. I expect to see something similar in Uganda. I am looking forward to meeting the Ugandan people, particularly the children, and hopefully I will make some new ever-lasting friendships. I can’t wait to experience the Ugandan culture and meet my new buddy. I am really grateful to have this once in a lifetime opportunity.
Hannah Cole

Hi, My name is Hannah Cole. I have one sister, three guinea pigs and a cat. I am very excited about jetting off to Uganda for two weeks. I always planned to go to Africa one day, but that was far away in the future. I never imagined that I would be going three days after I turn 16. The thing I am looking forward to the most is experiencing a different culture and learning so many new things. I am feeling a little nervous but knowing that I have a supportive family and a great team behind me makes those nerves insignificant. All in all, I can’t wait to go!
Isabelle Crome
Whitchurch
Hi, My name is Izzy. I am 14 years old and I live in Whitchurch with my Mum, Dad and brother Tom who is 20 years old. I am really looking forward to going to Uganda and I have heard so many great things about it. Everybody who has been has said that it was amazing. To experience their lifestyles will be so interesting and something I don’t think that I will see again. Once we get there, I think all the hard work will have paid off and it will make us appreciate everything we see out there even more.
Tom Drinkwater

Hi, My name is Tom Drinkwater. I am an only child. I am 14 years old but when I go to Uganda I will be 15 years old. I have 3 cats and a very large and supportive family. I can’t wait to go as I am really excited and I really want to get to know my buddy and try new experiences. I am looking forward to tasting all their foods and learning about how they live their lives.
Amelia Inglis
Whitchurch

Hi! My name is Amelia and I am 13 years old. I have two sisters called Ellie (15) and Martha (9). Ellie went to Uganda in 2008. I have lived in Whitchurch for four and a half years. I can’t wait to go to Uganda and experience their way of life for myself. I think it will be amazing to see how it really is and not just how they show it on television. All the stories I have heard from people that have been before sound incredible and it will be well worth all the hard fundraising when we get there.
Emma Lofthouse
Oakley
My name is Emma, I live in Oakley with my mum and dad and two younger sisters. I am currently in year 10 at Testbourne. I'm so excited about going to Uganda and really want to see what life is really like for people my age living in Uganda. I have often heard about life in Africa but hearing about it and seeing it are very different. Over Christmas we went to Kenya and drove past a village, it was very different to what I had expected. We also went to a woodwork factory which was like nothing I had ever experienced before. But unfortunately we didn't have a chance to visit the villages. The trip really made me want to find out more!
Christy Mackrill
Oakley
| My name is Christy Mackrill and I am 14 years old and currently in year 10. I have two older sisters; one at Uni and the other left last year. I enjoy cooking a lot. This is how I hope to make most of my money by cooking for my family. However, this might be a bit hard as I have to find nice easy veggie things to cook as I don’t like touching meat as I don’t belive eating it is right.
The thing I most look forward to in Uganda is making new friends and seeing how people live out there. This trip is something I've always wanted to do. I want to find out how the children out there can be so happy when they have nothing. I hope it will give me a better perspective on life. |
Jade O'Brien

Hi, My name is Jade O’Brien. I am 15 years old and I have 2 younger sisters called Bethan (13) and Lauren (9). When I go to Uganda I will be 16 years old. I have lots of fish and a large supportive family. I am excited about going to Uganda as it is the first major trip I will be going on my own. I am feeling slightly nervous about the whole trip. I am still getting used to the idea that I am actually going to Uganda. It will be amazing. I am really eager about learning about Ugandan culture and their way of life. The main reason that I want to go is the school and seeing the difference in the way that they learn. I am really excited about going and the only thing I will miss will be my family and friends.
Tom Redgrave

My hobbies are shooting, fishing, mechanics and motorbikes. My sister is 21 and drives a fork lift truck and my Mum works in a Public House in Overton.
