Miscellaneous Events Half IronMan Triathlon Jason Briley took part in the Half IronMan Triathlon finishing in a time of 7 hrs 53 minutes, over 1 hour ahead of of his expected time. This involved swimming 1.2 miles, cycling 56 miles and running 13.1 miles to finish up. Jason's raised in excess of £700 towards the Group Fund for his efforts. A huge thanks from the Team. A full report written by Jason himself plus pictures can be accessed by clicking here. Tea at Longparish Community School Some of the team met with a gathering of people interested in Mityana on Sunday, 10th May at 4pm in Longparish Community School (attached to Longparish School). This was followed by a short service in Longparish Church. Team members from the previous 2 years attended. Waitressing at St Mary's BourneMany of the Team 2009 did some waitressing / washing up on the evening of Saturday 25th April for an ABBA night. Quiz Night The evening of Friday 24th April saw 15 teams vie for the prize of winning the Mityana quiz night at the Whitchurch Sports and Social Club. We all had a great time and by the end of the evening the Wykeham Wanderers had won the day. Many thanks to all those who took part and helped, In particular Joanne, Sara , Susannah and Jane who prepared the food. Fred who set the questions and Mark who made an excellent quiz master and of course all those who donated prizes for the Raffle. A thank you also goes to Jane and Robin for organising the event. An excellent £556.90 was raised towards the Group Fund. Jumble SaleOn the 9th May, Christy, Tom R. Emma, Katrina and their long suffering parents joined forces to hold a jumble sale in the Green Hut in Oakley Village as a fund raiser. Items collected was vast including clothes, shoes, games, ornaments, etc. With many of the items left, 2 of the parents decided to take the best of what was left to a car boot sale in Alton. Brilliant for the first hour, and then the rains came. Best advice I can give is to check the weather forecast before attempting a car boot sale. Great fun though. Codi's Kamikaze Adventure Run In March, Codi Briley, one of the the 14 pupils selected to go to Uganda, took part in an adventure run to raise his personal funds in one 'hit'. Please click here to read an account of Codi's day written by his father, Jason.
