| Whitchurch | | Hi, My name is Sam Chappell and I live in Whitchurch. I go to Testbourne Community School and I am a peer mentor for Year 7 and assistant stage manager for all Testbourne Performing Arts productions. I am also a Whitchurch Explorer Scout and am now part of the Uganda 2008 team. I think that I am going to enjoy flying to Africa and seeing the African landscape and how the Ugandan people live and work, especially school life. I am excited about this opportunity because I think it would be a once in a lifetime opportunity and it will be a challenge to raise the money and make new friends in a different country where their cultures are different. I like making new friends and I am looking forward to getting to know the rest of the team and the Ugandan pupils. | William Cole

 | My name is William Cole I am 13 years old, and I have the chance to go to Uganda this October. I go sailing in the summer and have sailed catamarans and now have RYA grade 3 . I am also a scout and this will not be the first time that I have applied to go to Africa.
Last year I applied, with scouts, to go to Zambia which is also in Africa I got through the first round but not the second one but I was the youngest there the age range was from 12 to 25. I am looking forward to going to Uganda because I will get to experience their way of life and will be able to tell them about mine. I am really looking forward to this as I will be able to see what life is really like out there for the Ugandan's, I will be able to see them, and maybe in some way make there lives a bit better. Another reason that I can’t wait to go is to see the county and the change in climate, and all the wonderful animals and plants that you will find there. | Harry Cope
| Overton | | Hi there, my name is Harry and I am 13 years old. I enjoy football, music and cars. I am a lively and jolly person. Ever since I have been accepted for Team Uganda 2008 I have been really excited and can’t wait to go.
Whilst we are out in Uganda we will be helping the school in Mityana by spending a week following their timetable, helping to install some basic provisions, visiting a local orphanage and village.
I am really excited about going to Uganda and meeting other people and learning about their lives, and making a difference out there. The fundraising will be really hard work but fun at the same time. The group fundraising will be a great chance to bond with the rest of the team. | Megan Davies
| Whitchurch |
 | Hi! I’m Megan Davies. I am in Year 9 and I’m 13 years old. I have two sisters, and I am the middle child. My favourite sport is swimming and I also like climbing. I have a pet hamster called Tammy. My favourite colours are marine type colours.
I’m going to Uganda and I’m really excited. I love travelling to different countries and meeting the people that live there.
When we are out there we will be helping out with the children by learning about their way of life and completing small projects that will help their lives in someway. We will also be visiting our joint school, Mityana Secondary School to experience school life in Uganda | Will Dinsdale
| Overton | | Hi, my name is Will Dinsdale and I am in Year 10 at Testbourne Community School in Whitchurch. When I first got into the Uganda team I was out of my mind with joy. It really did make my day and not just because I got in. It was because everyone in my tutor was surrounding me as I opened the letter to see if I got in. The tension was huge. I do have an idea of what it will be like out in Mityana because I have been to Egypt and at the outskirts of Cairo it was horrendous. People were forced to live out of whatever they could find or forced to sleep in grouped under motorways. Already I am looking forward to going especially meeting all the new people and making great friends. I also look forward to experiencing their culture. | Suzy Dyer
| Whitchurch | | My name is Suzy Dyer and I live at home in Whitchurch with my mum, dad, sister as well as my pet cat Lily. I am very grateful that I was chosen for the Uganda trip and am looking forward to it immensely and have already raised £100 to go towards my personal fundraising. I am excited as my life has been full of privileges and I want to give something back and help in anyway I can! When I am out there I hope to see their life and cuisine and help them with some projects in the school. I want to see how they learn and maybe then I won’t take school for granted! I hope to learn from them and maybe teach them something about England in return. | Emily Ellis
| Whitchurch |
 | Hi, my name is Emily Ellis, I am 14 years old and a member of Testbourne Team Uganda 2008. I have two sisters and a brother and my visit to Uganda will make me the first out of the four of us to travel outside of Europe. Exciting is an understatement!
Next October, I’ll be travelling to Uganda with the rest of the team, an experience I can hardly wait for. I’m sure that it will prove to be the experience of a lifetime. I hope it will bring me to consider life as I don’t know it, showing me a different world to the one I live in now.
While I am there I hope to join in with the local community, perhaps painting blackboards, carrying water or helping in other ways, ways in which I hope will make a difference, however small | Christina Hackett
| Whitchurch |

| Hello, my name is Christina Hackett, aged 14, and I live with my mother, my stepfather and younger brother. I am positive, happy, cheerful and I look forward to providing myself a challenge whilst in Uganda.
When in Uganda we will visit our twin school in Mityana and help with everyday challenging tasks that we wouldn’t otherwise have to do.
I look forward to helping out, experiencing a totally new culture and making new long-term friends. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience a whole new prospective from the other side of the world and I am really excited as I have never visited a country outside of Europe before. | Ellie Inglis
| Whitchurch |
 | Hi! My name is Ellie Inglis and I go to Testbourne Community School in Whitchurch, where I have lived for four years. I am in Year Nine at school and I am 14 years old. I have two sisters who are twelve and almost nine. We also have two hamsters called Totty and Fern!!
When we go to Uganda in October, we will be visiting some schools and meeting some of the people who live out there. We will also be helping out at the school and learning about each others lives. Our school is twinned with Mityana Secondary school, so we will also be trying to develop this link further.
I am very excited about visiting this country that is different from our own. I think it will be really interesting to discover what it is like to live in a developing country, to experience living without the luxury of running water. | Andrew Martin
| Whitchurch |
 | Hi, My name is Andrew Martin. I’m fourteen years old. I really want to go to Uganda because of the experience of going to a third world country. I also want to go because I really want to meet that live in Uganda and to help them if I can. When I found out that I had been accepted to go I was over the moon. The first chance I had I told my mum and she was so proud of me. I am really looking forward to meeting the Ugandan people and dancing and playing the drums with them. I am also looking forward to getting water in the jerry cans and following their school timetable as it will allow me to experience their way of life. I will also be able to tell them about my way of life. | Chloe Nightingale
| Oakley | | Hi, My name is Chloe Nightingale, I am 14 and live in Oakley with my mum and dad and 11 year old brother Jack. The opportunity to be going to Uganda is one that I am extremely excited to be involved in. I lead a very privileged life and want to give something back to the people that don’t. I do not think that enough people understand the full extent of poverty and I want to raise awareness of it through fundraising and explaining what we are hoping to achieve. I am looking forward to finding out about their daily lives and being a part of it, to fully understand how they live and pushing my boundary's to a new level. | Sam Page
| Whitchurch |
 | Hi, My name is Sam Page and I am in Year Nine at Testbourne Community School in Whitchurch.
I am absolutely thrilled to be in Team Uganda 2008 because it is a once in a lifetime experience. I can’t wait to go and experience the lifestyle of Ugandan people. For my fundraising so far I have completed a sponsored silence which was not easy for me! I am also looking forward to making new friends from a different country and swapping our experiences. | Amy Steel
| Oakley | | Hi, My name is Amy Steel, I'm 14 years old . I live in Oakley with my mum and dad and am an only child Living in the UK makes me feel very lucky, we have most of the things we need . It will be good to see how some of the things we take to Uganda will be used. I’m especially looking forward to attending lessons at the school, this will help me understand how children in Uganda learn their subjects. When I am in Uganda, I would also like the chance to understand more about the issues that affect children close to my age . I think the trip to Uganda will make me think a lot harder about my life in the UK. | Sarah Waissen
| Overton | | Hello, My name is Sarah Waissen and I live in Overton with my Mum and sister Beth.
I am really excited about going to Uganda because we will get a chance to become part of the community and to really experience a different culture.
